Tall Ship Johanna Lucretia Visit

The topsail schooner, Johanna Lucretia, is setting sail for Saundersfoot!

Built as a fishing vessel in Belgium in 1945, the tall ship Johanna Lucretia is currently the only UK flagged topsail schooner in sail training, and has appeared in the films The Riddle of the Sands (1979) and Amazing Grace (2006).

From 24-26 JuneJohanna Lucretia will be anchored in Saundersfoot Bay, just off Saundersfoot Harbour. The tall ship will be anchored out in the bay from 17:00 on Friday 24 June to 05:00 on Monday 27 June.

Take a boat trip to see Johanna Lucretia at anchor...

On the afternoon of 25 JuneSaundersfoot Sea Safari will be offering boat trips from the harbour to see the tall ship up close at anchor. Tickets are £10pp. To book, contact 07494 293983.

Photo competition

The Tall Ships (Wales) Trust would like to invite all aspiring photographers to take and submit photos of the Johanna Lucretia when she is anchored in Saundersfoot Bay on the weekend of June 25th.

Winning entries will have a chance to be displayed on the Tall Ships (Wales) Trust website or used within the Tall Ships Wales exhibition panel in our Coastal Schooner.

Suggested shots:

  • Pictures identifying that the ship is anchored off Saundersfoot Village
  • Pictures with the Coastal Schooner and Johanna Lucretia in the same frame.
  • A montage of the ship, the village, and the Schooner Building perhaps in an old-fashioned postcard format
  • Your own unique ideas
  • Photos that were taken during any time the ship was in Pembrokeshire.

To submit entries please email your photos as an attachment to tallshipswalestrust@gmail.com. Please include your full name, age and address. There will be prizes for the ones selected.

Go on board at Hobbs Point

There will be the opportunity to go on board the Johanna Lucretia the weekend before at Hobbs Point, Pembroke Dock on Sat 18 June 15:30 - 17:30 and Sunday 19 June 15:30 - 18:30. Access will be from the Hobbs Point public ponton (12 Pier Rd, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6UL). This will be free with no need to book. 30 people are allowed on board at a time, so during busy periods, there may be a short wait.

Seafair Haven Parade of Sail

Watch Johanna Lucretia sail from Hobbs Point in the Seafair Haven's Parade of Sail on Sunday 19 June from 13:00. This will be a free event with no need to book. Pembroke Haven Yacht Club BBQ and Bar is open to non-members for refreshments during or after the event.
