IRONMAN WALES 2019

Sunday 15th September 2019
IRONMAN Wales begins on Tenby's North Beach which provides one of the most spectacular swim locations on the race circuit. Despite challenging bike and run courses, athletes are treated to consistent and motivating inspiration from some of the most vocal and enthusiastic spectators in endurance sports.
The start of the race is at North Beach in the seaside town of Tenby. Athletes will swim in the pristine waters of Carmarthen Bay. It is a rolling start from the beach on a two-lap course, with an exit on the beach after the first lap. The bike course takes athletes through the scenic countryside of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and passes by numerous castles and iconic landmarks. The medieval town walls and picturesque beachfront provide an impressive backdrop for the marathon through Tenby.
The event starts at 06:30 from Tenby’s North Beach, the events finishing point is The Esplanade and the first athlete is due at 22:00 and the final shut off is 00:15.
Saundersfoot Harbour will remain OPEN at all times during the day, but throughout the village there is a temporary road closure from 09:30 – 18:30. There will be a vehicle access point allowing cars in and out of the Harbour car park but as a backlash may cause some delays. See Picture above for a full map of road closures and times.
